United States (USA) Martial Arts Federation
Rank Policy

The USMAF's Policy on Martial Arts Rank is not unique among traditional and ethical martial art organizations.

First of all, the USMAF is committed to providing a Rank Promotion Program that is Non-Political and is designed to ensure Proper Promotions for all USMAF members. The "Key Point" to remember is that Instructors test & promote their own students in their own particular systems. The USMAF Rank System has a solid foundation beginning at the National Level.with the Central Technical Committee. The Central Technical Committee has the responsibility for the over-all structuring, function, management, and administration for the USMAF Rank System and Promotion Program. Within the organizational structure, under the Central Technical Committee, are the General Divisions for each Category of Martial Arts. An example of a General Division is the KARATE Division. Each style or system of Karate that is represented in the USMAF has a Sub-Committee. These Sub-Committees manage (at the National Level), the Rank Requirements, Testing Procedures, and Promotion-Administration for each of the styles or systems of Karate that are affiliated with the USMAF. Each Sub-Committee is responsible required to provide comprehensive "written" rank requirements and training guidelines for their particular style or system of Karate. In addition, the Sub-Committee is also responsible for establishing & maintaining the Testing Procedures.

The following is a partial listing examples of Sub-Committees under the USMAF Central Technical Committee of the USMAF. Currently, General Divisions for the following Categories are operating in the USMAF:

  1. Karate Division (in cooperation with the USA Karate Federation)

  2. Tae Kwon Do Division (in cooperation with the Central Tae Kwon Do Association)

  3. Ju-Jitsu Division (in cooperation with the United States Ju-Jitsu Federation)

  4. Hapkido Division

  5. Kubudo Division (in cooperation with the World Kobudokan)

  6. Yudo Division (in cooperation with the US Yudo Association)

  7. Kung Fu Division & other Chinese Arts

  8. Aikido Division

  9. Kendo Division

  10. Misc Asian Martial Arts, Kali, Paqua, Penjak Silat, Philippine Arts, etc.

Look for more details in the near future.
