USAMAF Biography Information
DAVID S. AMES
Member, Board of Directors
United States (USA) Martial Arts Federation
David Ames is renown as a teacher and competitor. He was a dominant force in his division during his competition years, and would probably have been world champion but for his love and dedication to teaching. It is important that each teacher continually study many fields beyond their own direct discipline, but this study can interfere with the single-minded practice required to attain the world championship.
Ames holds advanced grades: Taekwondo 6th dan, Kempo 6th dan, Jujitsu 6th dan, Karate 6th dan, Kobudo 5th dan, and Judo 2th dan from Kwanmukan, World Karate Federation, Pan American Karate Union, USA Karate Federation, Global Martial Arts Association, Korean Chang Moo Kwan Taekwondo Association, Kwanmuzendokai International, US Ju-Jitsu, and the Central Taekwondo Association.
As a competitor he has been 1978 AAU Athlete of the Year, USAKF, Ranked in top 6 light weight kumite 10 years, Past President, Akron U Karate Club, 1993 Coach Junior Pan American Championships, Coach - USA World Team, Junior and Senior, Champion of the Central Taekwondo Association, Member of the USA Karate Federation World Team, and Pan American Union of Karatedo Organization Kata Champion.
Ames and his wife and children live and work in Akron, Ohio, and he is the Head Master, Cuyahoga Valley Center for the Martial Arts.
